Import 9: I am importing text files into Reference Manager 12 in the RIS format, or using direct export and some fields are not importing well. How can I fix this?

Answer: The import.dat file included in Reference Manager 12 can be updated to include some updated information by using the following steps.
  1. Close Reference Manager 12.
  2. Download the updated import.dat file here.
  3. Unzip the file.
  4. The file needs to be copied to your Reference Manager 12 program folder. Note that if you are using a version of Reference Manager installed from a network drive, these changes will affect all RM users.
  5. For the single user version of Reference Manager, the folder to place the import.dat file is:
    C:\Program Files\Reference Manager 12\
  6. With the network version, the default location would be
    C:\Program Files\Reference Manager 12 Network\Program
  7. Open Reference Manager and try importing.
